What is it about autumn? As the days get shorter, do you feel like you’re running to catch up, to reap what you sowed throughout the year?
I saw this illustration by Megan Herbert the other day, and it reminded me that so much of what we do as artists is invisible.
Much of the time, we are researching, experimenting, planning, thinking, crafting, and then, eventually, things come to fruition.
I’m excited to share some of my creative works you can actually see soon, and the processes behind them for your inspiration. Feel free to message me if you have questions or want to know more!
Water Stories
I am releasing my first spoken-word EP!
This project started as a collaboration between me and composer Lutz Gallmeister over a year ago. Each of these tracks was inspired by a painting featuring water. You can see one of them below on our cover, which Berlin-based artist Edward B Gordon kindly gave us permission use.
To compose each track, we both “listened” to the painting and recorded the sounds, emotions and thoughts it conveyed. What began as an experiment in process turned into a flow of six short stories based around the element of water using sound art, music and text.
You can listen to all the tracks for free and find links to the paintings each track was inspired by on Bandcamp or Soundcloud, or buy it to download.
To celebrate our release, we’re performing this as an immersive experience on the brewery floor of Vagabund Brauererei in Wedding this coming Monday.
Look at this venue!
Join us at the brewery at 7 pm on Monday 21st October 2024. Our set will be from 7.30 - 8 pm, followed by poetry readings, and of course, beers, or hop water, afterwards! More details at Meetup if you want to sign up, or just come along.

Get into the Creative Flow: A Writing Workshop featuring Live Music
Since this is such a unique setting, I’ve designed a unique workshop for the space.
Join me and Lutz from 6.30 - 8 PM on Tuesday 22nd October for a creative writing workshop in which we will move, be inspired by the space, and interact with music to generate new writing. This will be a fun and inspiring experience that is open to writers of all levels. Afterwards, we can all grab a drink or a bite to eat downstairs.
Places are limited, so reserve your spot via Eventbrite.
Your Erotic Story: A Spicy Creative Writing Course
Talking of new, inspiring and fun approaches to creative writing, I am running Your Erotic Story: A spicy creative writing course for the last time this year in November / December. This one is just for women, non-binary and queer people, and will run over four Sundays at Lettrétage in Mitte, so we can really get into it.
I keep these workshops small, so don’t miss your chance to be part of this intimate group.
Sluts in Saris
And finally — this is a performance piece that came out of the last Erotic Writing Workshop!
We gathered a group of South Asian women writers who wanted to create something smart, funny, sassy and sexy, using saris. The Word on the Street show at Tipsy Bear is great, and we are headlining at the next one on October 28th. Come see it. I cannot describe it here. It’s only going to happen once. And it will be like nothing you have ever seen before. Promise.
Autumn is for gathering. I hope your projects, friends, family and communities are gathering…and I hope to gather with you at one of these workshops, performances or some other warm and cosy setting soon.
Happy gathering.
Sluts in saris!! Yes! Also can’t wait to listen to the EP
